It’s “du tour”. “De la tour” would mean from the tower.

    (It’s nitpicking friday.)

I’ll say one thing. The fans of the past were much classier than the fans of today. Nowadays you have the Borat ‘s in those stupid thongs chasing the racers. Good grief!

Thank God the web gives you the opportunity to watch this images. This is raw cycling history

Single gear was more pre-WW1. By the 60s they had similar range of gears to today

    Awesome! Real men!

In the past, dopings aren’t really trusted because the amount given to each riders might be too much…. unlike now, more safe than the past.As well as the bikes now has gears and i think in the past, its single gear.

that was a special gem, helmets off to the golden age! Would loved to have a look @ those bikes, dig the handle bar water cage, I rock this from time to time on my fixie…

Man there were some races that after I crossed the finish line, I collapsed! Seven hours and over 10,000 feet in climbing, and that is hard work! In that one, I finished 6th, and had cramps in both thighs, and one calf! At least the guys who finished ahead of me were all champions of the road. and there were some other champs who finished well behind. There are some races that are so hard, I’ve seen guys pass out and crash on the bike! And then, you might have to sprint at the end! Crazy!

Marvelous film. Maybe the best I have seen on YouTube. Of course, Sunday in Hell is up there. Anquetil!

This is and was the golden age of Cycling. I raced much later on and still ride and race, but if I had one wish, it would to have been racing with these guys in that age

  • mittenspwnsu says:

No helmets on these guys- they have testicles. I suppose future generations will wear full leathers to protect their manginas.
